Jesse Marsch wants to add a striker before the window closes on 1st September and Leeds have been tracking several players.
Kalimuendo is one of the forwards Leeds have been interested in and they even held talks with PSG over doing a deal worth €20m.
However, Leeds have not been the 20-year-old forward’s priority and he has always been more interested in a move to Rennes.
And according to French sports daily L’Equipe, Rennes are closing in on a deal to sign the Leeds target in the ongoing transfer window.
They are in talks with PSG and an agreement is on the cards for a fee of €25m for the striker’s transfer.
A deal is more or less in place and the two clubs are now finalising the details of the agreement for the transfer.
Rennes have also agreed to include a sell-on clause to further sweeten the deal for the French champions.
Leeds will now have to look at other targets, with both their targets, Kalimuendo and Charles De Ketelaere, opting for other clubs.
