Hammers boss David Moyes is determined to further bolster his centre-back position in the ongoing window with several of his players currently injured, including new boy Nayef Aguerd.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Abdou Diallo and Thilo Kehrer along with Fenerbahce’s Szalai are among the names on West Ham’s transfer radar as they continue their hunt for defenders.

West Ham are pushing to land the German having submitted a second bid for him and they have been in talks with Turkish giants Fenerbahce over a move for their defener Szalai.

The 24-year-old is capable of playing as a left-back in addition to his natural role and that positional fluidity he brings to the table is a key factor for West Ham’s interest in him

However, the Hammers are yet to submit a bid for Szalai’s services, although the Fenerbahce hierarchy are expecting an offer from them.

The Turkish giants have discussed West Ham’s interest in signing him with Szalai as he gears up to help his side qualify for the Europa League.

Szalai is not short of suitors at present as Russian giants Zenit Saint-Petersburg are also in talks with Fenerbahce over a move for him.
