The Hammers’ only fit senior centre-back at present is Kurt Zouma, while they also have vacant spot to fill in their defensive department following the sale of Issa Diop to Fulham.
West Ham have several defenders on their transfer radar, including the PSG duo of Amadou Diallo and Kehrer.
The Irons saw PSG knock back their initial bid for the German, but they went back in with an improved offer.
And according to French sports daily L’Equipe, negotiations between the Ligue 1 champions and West Ham for Kehrer are progressing positively.
However, West Ham are yet to receive the green light from Kehrer over a move to the London Stadium.
Kehrer is not part of new PSG coach Christophe Galtier’s plans at the Parc des Princes and he is not opposed to an exit in the ongoing window.
But the Germany international is keen on representing his country in the forthcoming World Cup and wants to move to a club with a project that will provide him with the best chance of earning that.
It remains to be seen whether Kehrer will decide West Ham’s proposal to be good enough to aid him in his World Cup ambitions.
