The Black Cats are back in the Championship this season after getting promoted from League One and are pushing to build a squad to flourish in the second tier of English football.
Sunderland have brought in six players in Daniel Ballard, Leon Dayaku, Aji Alese, Jack Clarke, Alex Bass and Ellis Simms in the ongoing transfer window.
The club are still in the market for more players, with a goalkeeper being a priority in the final weeks of the transfer window.
However, Neil conceded that he is not expecting any imminent arrivals at Sunderland before the weekend.
But he did insist that there is confidence within the club that the club will succeed in adding the players they need before the window closes on 1st September.
“I’m confident we’ll get more players in before the transfer deadline”, Neil said in a press conference.
“But there’s nobody on their way up here just now.”
Sunderland will host Queens Park Rangers at the Stadium of Light after gathering four points from their first two league games.
