Garner was part of Erik ten Hag’s pre-season squad which travelled to Thailand and Australia, but due to injury, his involvement was limited to a total of 22 minutes.

The 21-year-old’s skills are sought after by a number of Championship and Premier League clubs in the ongoing transfer window.

Manchester United manager Ten Hag has prioritised Frenkie de Jong in order to strengthen his midfield, and the club have recently been working on a deal for Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot.

It has been claimed that Garner is up for sale at Manchester United and Antonio Conte’s Spurs are eager to sign him.

The Red Devils are willing to accept a bid in the region of £20m for the England Under-21 international.

It has been suggested that Tottenham are in the market to bolster their midfield options and the 21-year-old defensive midfielder might provide the solution.

Last season, Garner made 49 appearances for Nottingham Forest, scoring four times while providing ten assists and helping Steve Cooper’s side to earn promotion to the Premier League.
