There are just hours left in the transfer window but Everton are still in the market for more options up front.

The Toffees have been linked with interest in several attackers across Europe and they identified one potential target in Portugal.

Everton zeroed in on FC Porto’s young winger Borges, who has already clocked up game time for their senior team.

And according to Portuguese daily O Jogo, the Merseyside giants firmed up their interest in the 21-year-old by slapping a bid worth €12m for him.

However, the Dragoes rebuffed Everton’s offer and are holding out for a fee in the €15m range for him.

Borges has also attracted significant interest in Portugal with the likes of Estoril, Gil Vicente, Pacos de Ferreira and Vitoria Guimaraes all keen on him.

But despite interest from elsewhere, Borges is likely to remain at the Porto giants this summer while it remains to be seen whether Everton return to the table with an offer for him on deadline day.
