Jesse Marsch wants to bring in a new forward before the window closes tonight and Leeds have been scrambling for options in the dying hours of the transfer window.
Leeds were left shocked after Cody Gakpo decided to reject them and stay put at PSV Eindhoven beyond the end of the window.
Wolves striker Hee-Chan Hwang is also on their radar but Leeds are pressing forward with their efforts to sign Dieng from Marseille.
The French club have been trying to sell him all summer and he has been offered around to several Premier League clubs.
And it has been claimed that Leeds are now close to working out a deal to sign Dieng on a permanent deal.
French sides have been looking at loaning Dieng, but Leeds want to sign him permanently.
Leeds are also in talks with the forward and his representatives and are set to agree on personal terms with him.
Once the agreements are in place, Dieng will travel to England to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of the transfer.
