Jurgen Klopp is desperate for Liverpool to sign another midfielder before the transfer window slams shut this evening and the Reds’ problems got worse last night due to an injury to Jordan Henderson.
With time running out and another midfielder out of action at Anfield, Liverpool have now zeroed in on Juventus midfielder Arthur.
The Premier League side have made rapid progress on a swoop and, according to Sky Italia, Arthur has been booked in for a medical.
Arthur will be put through his medical paces by Liverpool as they close in on adding him to Klopp’s squad.
If the Brazilian passes all the checks then he will sign a season-long loan deal at Anfield.
It is unclear whether Liverpool will have any option to buy Arthur after the loan period ends, or what loan fee they are paying to the Italians.
The Brazilian will add to Klopp’s options in midfield and hand him a welcome reinforcement, if the club can get the deal done before the window shuts.
