The Lions have interest in Styles and tried to get through a move for him before the summer window closed.

Styles was a bright spark in the Barnsley team that got relegated last season, making 43 Championship appearances and scoring three goals.

He caught the attention of Millwall and now it is now expected that the Lions have reached an agreement to bring in the Hungarian star to the Den.

However, Barnsley’s plan for Styles up until deadline day was for him to be sold and get a fee for him, not to let him go out on loan.

Styles’ current contract with Barnsley runs until next summer, though it is suggested the club have an option, and the Tykes had accepted that the player was likely going to be on the move in the window just concluded.

Millwall wanted an option to buy the player, but the loan deal reached does not feature any clause to that effect, it has been claimed.

It remains to be seen why Barnsley changed their initial stance.

Styles has started all six of Barnsley’s League One games this season but is now in line to play his trade with Millwall on loan.
