Ahadme arrived from Burton Albion for £180,000, whereas Camara joined the Tractor Boys from League One side Plymouth Argyle for a little over £500,000.

Moreover, Sone Aluko joined Conor Chaplin on the injured list in the midweek EFL Trophy triumph against Northampton Town.

McKenna confirmed that both Ahadme and Camara were on Ipswich’s radar for some time as they fit the profiles the club were looking for.

The Ipswich boss highlighted the need for a tall, physical forward who brings a different dynamic to their play and a versatile attacking midfielder capable of filling multiple roles, which he believes is now met.

McKenna is hopeful that both players will prove to be astute signings and help the Tractor Boys scale greater heights.

They are two players that we’ve watched for quite a while and had identified as fitting the profiles we’re looking for. They bring qualities that we wanted to add to the group”, McKenna was quoted as saying by the East Anglian Daily Times.

We always wanted to bring in another forward player with an extra bit of height and physical presence that could add different things to us across the season.

Gassan certainly brings that as well as being a young, extremely hungry player who has got room to develop and improve.

We felt like we needed that extra attacking midfield option who can fulfil a couple of different roles.

“That extra depth in the squad will hopefully allow us to be successful across the season.

They are both really good players who have scope to improve here.

“They can hopefully help us go to another level.”

Ipswich are currently level on points with League One table-topping Portsmouth, but find themselves on the rung directly below, having a scored a goal fewer than Pompey.
