The 18-year-old attacking midfielder joined the Tyneside giants from Sunderland in January 2021 and last season made 29 appearances for Newcastle’s development side, scoring eleven goals while assisting five.

 

Turner-Cooke made the bench during Newcastle’s away trip to Manchester City the previous season and Howe took him on Newcastle’s pre-season tour to Austria and Portugal.

 

 

The attacking midfielder is highly rated at St. James’ Park and Turner-Cooke is relishing his opportunity to train with the Magpies first-team under Howe.

 

Turner-Cooke admitted that it was a great experience for him to travel with the senior squad on their pre-season tour and expressed his eagerness to impress his manager.

 

 

The 18-year-old also acknowledged that he is soaking up a lot from Howe and his interactions with members of the first-team squad.

 

“Thankfully I got to go to Austria and Portugal and they were two great experiences”, Turner-Cooke told Chronicle Live.

 

 

“As a young player that is all you want really.

 

“Hopefully I will just keep trying to impress the manager when I go up and train with them and just look to keep doing what I am doing.

 

“Eddie Howe is a great manager and when I am with them, I am learning loads from him and the players.

 

“That’s what I want to keep up.

 

“I am just trying to impress them.”

 

Turner-Cooke has made five appearances for Newcastle Under-21s this season and will be vying to break into Howe’s first-team in the ongoing campaign.
