Huddersfield were left shocked when Carlos Corberan departed in the summer after the side made the Championship playoffs last season.

The Terriers brought in Danny Schofield but a poor start to the season means that they are 23rd in the league table.

The west Yorkshire side sacked Schofield on Wednesday and are in the market for a new manager this season.

Dyche has been linked with a move to Huddersfield but that is unlikely to happen given his ambition.

The 51-year-old was sacked by Burnley last season and has been looking for a way back into management.

A move to Huddersfield has been mooted but it has been claimed that Dyche, who would come up against former club Burnley if he took the job, is unlikely to be interested.

He is eyeing a return to the top flight and wants to manage in the Premier League rather than drop back to the Championship.

Dyche is waiting for the right opportunities to open up in the Premier League before taking up an offer.
