The winger made a solid start to the season that saw him deliver two assists against Manchester City and a goal against Wolves towards the end of last month.

But since his goal at Molineux, the winger has been out of action due to a hamstring injury, which saw him miss the league games against Liverpool, Crystal Palace and West Ham.

With the Premier League games being postponed last weekend, there was hope that the Frenchman could be back in action ahead of this weekend.

But it has been claimed that he is likely to sit out Bournemouth’s visit to St. James’ Park on Saturday.

Saint-Maximin is still nursing his hamstring problem but will not be involved this weekend for Newcastle.

The Magpies are being cautious about not rushing him given his importance to Eddie Howe’s side.

Newcastle will be hopeful that the winger will be fit and ready to be in the squad after the international break.
