Warrington went out on loan during the second half of last season to Tranmere Rovers and made 17 outings for the League Two side, laying on two assists while netting one goal.
This season, the 19-year-midfielder signed a two-year extension with Everton and was sent out yet again, on deadline day, this time to League One side Fleetwood Town.
Warrington has made two outings so far for Fleetwood, and on Tuesday he played a full 90 minutes in his side’s 1-0 win against Peterborough.
The Fleetwood assistant manager was impressed with the Everton loanee’s performance against the Posh and praised the 19-year-old for his display.
Whittaker believes that Warrington will need to play week in, week out at the same level he played against Peterborough and believes that the Cod Army can build up through the 19-year-old as he provides more control in midfield with the ball.
“I thought he was fantastic; we want to play through him at times and he did well at that”, Whittaker told Fleetwood’s official site.
“It’s great to see him play like that and he just needs to match those levels now week in, week out.
“I think we can play through him more now as he’s a player we need to get on the ball so he can give us a little bit more control than we have done in previous games.”
Fleetwood will take on Ben Garner’s Charlton Athletic on Saturday and Warrington will be looking forward to continuing his form against the Addicks.
