Following the appointment of Graham Potter as their new manager, Chelsea are now working towards bringing in a sporting director.

The new Chelsea owners are keen to have their man in place before the January transfer window in the coming months.

Chelsea have held talks with Red Bull Salzburg’s Christoph Freund and he is believed to be the top contender.

But it has been claimed that the club are looking at other options as well and Steidten is one of the names they are looking at.

The German joined Leverkusen as their head of scouting in 2019 and was promoted to their director of football this summer.

His work at Leverkusen has piqued the interest of the new Chelsea owners and he is on their radar.

Potter is also expected to play a key role in helping Chelsea to identify the new sporting director as well.

Chelsea are keen to have a high-level team in place after the upheaval in the summer when Marin Granovskaia and Petr Cech left the club.
