Buabo joined Ipswich in the summer of 2021 and upon arriving went on a one-month development loan spell with Bury Town, where he featured four times, scoring one goal.

Last season, the centre-forward played for Ipswich’s Under-23s in the Professional Development League and also featured in the FA Youth Cup for the Blues.

Buabo, who has trained with Kieran McKenna’s first-team on a few occasions this season, earned his debut against Arsenal Under-21s in an EFL Trophy on Tuesday after coming off the bench in the 86th minute for Freddie Ladapo.

Pert is of the view that it was a great moment for the young striker to earn his first senior experience after being around the first team this season.

The Blues assistant manager also praised the young striker for his good attitude and stressed that Buabo deserved it.

“Really pleased for him, he’s got a smile on his face down there in the dressing room, as you can imagine”, Pert was quoted as saying by TWTD.

“He’s as happy as anything.

“It was nice for him to get on the pitch.

“He’s been with us on different occasions since after pre-season.

“He’s come up at various times and has shown a good attitude and he deserved his moment today to make his debut.”

Buabo, who is currently part of Ipswich’s development squad, will be eager to break into McKenna’s first-team plans this season.
