The Sulphurites lost at home to Bradford City in their last League Two fixture to leave them in 20th place in the league table, two points away from the relegation zone.
Harrogate are winless in their last eight games in all competitions, with their last victory coming away at Gillingham in League Two in mid-August.
Everton’s Under-21 team come into tonight’s EFL Trophy game after a loss, losing away to Fulham’s Under-21 side in the Premier League 2.
Falkingham believes it to be of the utmost importance that Harrogate reclaim the winning feeling against Everton’s Under-21 side.
The 32-year-old midfielder, who recently came back from injury to make the bench for the weekend’s loss, admitted that it is a difficult period, epitomised by the Sulphurites not getting a positive result at home to the Bantams.
Falkingham believes that the prerogative for whoever features in the EFL Trophy tie is to get the win so they can take the good feeling into the fixture against the U’s.
“I think if you take it right now as it comes, tomorrow night, we need to get that winning feeling back”, Falkingham said ahead of the EFL Trophy clash against Everton’s Under-21 side.
“I think it’s been difficult. Some games have just been narrow.
“You know, we’ve had a positive performance on Saturday, not got the result that we wanted and felt that we deserved.
“I think that it’s really important for whoever plays is to get that three points, albeit in a cup game.
“And try and get that winning feeling back so that everybody can feel it and take it into Saturday because, obviously, we know that Colchester is a huge game.
“Going down to their place on Saturday, so really important to get the win and hopefully we’ll be doing everything to possibly achieve that.”
Harrogate presently have eight points from eleven games in the league and lost their prior fixture in the EFL Trophy to Hartlepool United, who are winless in League Two, while Everton’s Under-21 side lost on penalties to Morecambe.
