Both Hull and Wolves parted ways with their managers recently, after dismal runs of form for both sides left them nowhere near where they want to be in their respective tables.

Hull are now close to hiring a replacement for their previous manager, as former Olympiacos boss Martins is set to take charge of them.

Martins was also linked with the job at Wolves, where he would have continued the line of Portuguese appointments.

However, it has now come to light that the Hull bound boss was not considered an option at Molineux for the managerial role.

Martins came to England earlier in the week for talks and also watched Hull’s victory over Wigan Athletic in the Championship.

He is set to sign a three year contract with Hull, two years initially and an option of another year, and he is also bringing his own backroom staff with him.

As for Wolves, they are still without a manager but the name of Julen Lopetegui has gathered pace to be their next appointment.
