The Toffees took on Manchester United at the weekend, and lost, and their next two matches are against teams currently in the top six as well.
Everton are up against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend and then face Newcastle United next week, as they look to bounce back after the defeat to Manchester United.
Lampard believes the next two games will be tough but thinks it was time for his squad to undergo a trial at the current stage of the season anyway.
The Everton boss thinks in the Premier League it is common to face tough opponents in a row and feels his squad will have to rise to the occasion.
Speaking to evertontv, Lampard said: “We have to go again.
“These next two games will be very tough.
“The bigger picture is we can all see we’re going in the right direction, but maybe it’s time for us to get a bit of test.
“I’ve no problem with that.
“This is the Premier League
“The lads just need to stand up.
“We all do.”
Before the defeat against Manchester United, Everton had won their previous two games, and despite losing fought on until the end against the Red Devils.
They will be hoping that the loss is just a bump in the road.
