Carrick has been looking to start his career in management since leaving Manchester United towards the end of last year.
He served as a first-team coach under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and was briefly in charge of the club as caretaker manager.
There were claims this week that he is the top contender to become the next manager at Middlesbrough, who sacked Chris Wilder earlier this month.
Those suggestions were dismissed, but it has been claimed that Carrick is not looking to get into management just yet.
He did hold talks with Boro over their vacant managerial post and did show interest in taking up the job for a while.
But the former Manchester United midfielder wants to take more time before getting into management.
He is keen to wait before ending his break from football and entering into management at a club.
West Brom are also believed to be interested in Carrick and could offer him the job as Steve Bruce’s replacement.
