Pearson’s men will play Preston North End at Ashton Gate in a rearranged fixture on Wednesday evening and are in an entirely different run of form than they were on before the original date.

Bristol City are on a five-match winless streak and sit in 18th place in the league table with 15 points from 13 games.

Ryan Lowe’s side will visit Ashton Gate on the back of their 3-2 victory over Norwich City, and Pearson believes that in order for the Robins to defeat the Lillywhites, his side must rediscover their early-season form and stop giving up goals so easily.

The Bristol City boss is of the opinion that it is more about how his side will perform on the matchday that will determine the scoreline and he stressed that the players need to rise to the challenge to perform.

“It’s more about us on the day”, Pearson told Robins TV.

“We have got to find a performance which is more in keeping with what we have been about in the early part of the season.

“That’s the challenge for all of us.

“The players in particular.

“We are still conceding far too many soft goals and that’s a problem.

“I am afraid that it is a problem we have to continue to work on.”

Bristol City are undefeated in their last three meetings with Preston North End at Ashton Gate and they will be eager to continue the record.
