The two sides are well-placed to move to the next round of the Europa Conference League and are placed first and second in Group B after three matches each.
They now prepare for their fourth match of the campaign with the Belgian giants heading to the London Stadium to take on David Moyes’ side.
The Hammers managed a narrow 1-0 win in Belgium last Thursday but the visitors will hope to avenge that loss and strengthen their position.
Proto feels that in order to get something from London, Mazzu’s side will have defend well and hope to hit Moyes’ side on the counter attack.
“While playing in London, it is logical that Mazzu strengthens the midfield and stabilises the defence”, Proto told Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws.
“That system is very suitable when you know that you will have to defend mostly over the course of the match and then hit them on the counter attack.”
West Ham will be heading into the match with confidence after three wins in their last three matches.
