Gordon has emerged as the young star of the Everton team and the club worked hard to convince him to stay despite serious interest from Chelsea in the last summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old has come through the ranks at Everton and Unsworth played a role in his development when he was the Under-21s boss at the club.
The former Everton star is happy to see Gordon doing well in the first-team after developing in the academy and feels a sense of pride in playing a part in his journey at Goodison Park.
Unsworth told The Athletic: “I’m massively proud to have contributed — and that’s all it was, a contribution — to Anthony’s career so far.
“He’s done brilliantly to get where he is and there’s more to come.”
Unsworth has stressed that he takes pride in winning two Premier League 2 titles with Everton Under-21s.
He insisted that it was not easy given the teams his young side were competing against in the competition.
“The likes of him [Gordon], Dom [Calvert-Lewin] and Mason Holgate, who came in as lads to us, are all doing well.
“Along the way, we managed to beat the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool and we won two Premier League Two titles, which we had no right to do with some of those other clubs competing.”
Unsworth is currently the manager of National League side Oldham Athletic.
