Garner and Gueye joined the Toffees on deadline day, with the Senegalese midfielder returning to the club he left in the summer of 2019 for a three-year stint in Paris.

England Under-21 international Garner spent a productive 2021/22 season on loan at Nottingham Forest as they secured promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs.

Garner believes that Gueye is a player he can learn from, given his experience and quality, emphasising the calibre of the players he has played alongside and the competitions he has been part of.

The 21-year-old admitted that Gueye has already helped him but at the same time, he hopes that the 33-year-old has more pearls of wisdom up his sleeve.

Garner clarified that having someone like Gueye, who has played at the highest level and continues to do so, to mentor him is a massive plus.

He’s definitely a player I can learn from”, Garner told evertontv.

The experience he’s got, the players he’s played with, the leagues and competitions he’s played in, he’s someone to look up to.

He has helped me and I’m hoping to learn some more from his knowledge and his words of wisdom.

He’s been there and done it.

“He’s played at the highest level and he still is, so he can help me massively.”

Everton have slipped to 14th in the Premier League table after back-to-back defeats at the hands of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, with Newcastle United their next opponents on Wednesday.
