Leeds are without a win in seven league games and lost their third game in a row when Leicester beat them 2-0 at the King Power Stadium on Thursday night.
During the horror run, Leeds have been lauded for some of their performances even though they were poor in their defeat to Leicester.
But Walton indicated that he is tired of hearing that performances have not been in line with results and stressed that they mean nothing without any points.
He believes the quality of performances have been overstated and Leeds need to start picking up wins and points regardless of how they play.
The former White stressed that a poor performance against Leicester would have been acceptable to him if Leeds won the game.
Walton, analysing the match, said on BBC Radio Leeds: “I am a massive believer that performances mean very little.
“It’s results that actually count and the ability to get your team to score goals and keep it out of your net that is actually what your job is.
“The performances at Liverpool and Tottenham are good and we don’t pick anything up, but [if you then] beat Fulham and Bournemouth then alright.
“But we need to start picking up some points.
“If we had performed like we had tonight and won 1-0, brilliant and we would have taken that all day long.
“That line that the performances have been good has been overused.”
Leeds fans will likely accept a win and three points even if they do not play well against Fulham at Elland Road on Sunday.
