Leeds have lost their last three games on the trot and are without a win in seven in the Premier League.

After what seemed like a solid start to the season, Leeds are now 16th in the league table and are sitting outside the relegation zone due to a superior goal difference.

Jesse Marsch has been insistent that Leeds’ performances have been positive despite the bad results, but Walton insisted that teams have managed to figure out the style and tactics of the Whites.

The former midfielder is insistent that he is not advocating for a more agricultural side but stressed that Leeds now need to find a way to get the basics right again in order to start getting more points and results.

Walton, following Leeds’ loss against Leicester, said on BBC Radio Leeds: “I think we’ve got to go back to basics a little bit in how we play.

“That’s not me saying we’ve got to lump it back to front, smash it and play on second balls.

“But teams are starting to figure us out and Leicester figured us out to a tee and let us play in narrow little spaces in front of our own box.

“We’ve just got to go back to basics, roll our sleeves up and try grinding out some points.”

Leeds will be desperate to get their first win since August when they host Fulham at Elland Road on Sunday, as they look to ease the pressure on Marsch.
