The Tractor Boys have picked up 12 points from their last five League One games and are currently sitting in second place in the League One table, two points behind Plymouth Argyle.

Next, McKenna will take his side to lock horns with Darrell Clarke’s Port Vale, who are on a four-match undefeated run.

The Ipswich manager pointed out that Port Vale play aggressive football, with excellent pressing and stressed that Clarke’s side are brilliant at set-pieces as well.

McKenna believes that Port Vale are going to be a good challenge for his side and stressed that Ipswich will need to show fighting spirit to come away with a positive result from Vale Park.

“They’ve done well, I think even points-wise with their game in hand they’re in a really good position”, McKenna told Ipswich Town’s official site.

“They’re going to be a difficult team, they have physicality, they press well and try to be aggressive, and doing really well on their set plays, so it’s going to be a good challenge.

“All in all, it’s a Tuesday night game up at Port Vale, we know we’re in for a fight and we’re going to have to be right at it to get a result.

“It’s up to us to fight and show the spirit required to get a result and to hopefully send the supporters home happy.

Ipswich are unbeaten in their last eight meetings with Port Vale and McKenna’s side will be hoping to continue their run on Tuesday.
