McKennie arrived at Juventus in the summer of 2020, initially on loan, and his move there was facilitated by current Tottenham football managing director Fabio Paratici.
Paratici is now at Tottenham and McKennie is a player followed by Spurs, with the director even meeting the American star last January.
Tottenham are expected to be active in the forthcoming January transfer window and they have again been linked with McKennie.
However, Tottenham are still undecided on whether to pursue the Juventus star in January, despite the Italian club themselves being open to selling.
Juventus are ready to sell the midfielder if any club can meet their asking price, which is higher than £20m, and it remains to be seen if Tottenham make up their mind.
For his part, McKennie is not in a mood to consider any transfer until after the World Cup is over, though the Premier League is a lure for him.
Aside from Tottenham, clubs such as Newcastle United, Leeds United, Everton and Arsenal have scouted him but like Spurs, they are not moving forward with their interest at present.
