A 1-1 draw at home against Livingston on Saturday means Rangers are now four points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst faced the ire of the fans at Ibrox after the game and things are not going to get any easier as they are set to face Serie A leaders Napoli on Wednesday night before hosting Aberdeen at home next weekend.

But Ferguson stressed that the focus for Rangers will be more on getting a win over Aberdeen than the Champions League game in Naples.

Rangers’ European hopes have faded for this season, but the former Gers captain believes that for the sake of the title race, they must get all three points against Aberdeen at Ibrox.

Ferguson said on the Go Radio Football Show: “[The] Aberdeen [game] is bigger.

“I am sure they will go over there to try and frustrate Napoli.

“But Aberdeen at home is a must three points.”

Van Bronckhorst will look to avoid another heavy defeat in Naples before taking on Aberdeen at home.
