The 18-year-old midfielder came through the academy ranks of Ipswich Town and last season made his debut for the Blues in their 1-0 EFL Cup defeat against Newport County.

Humphreys made his first league start for the Tractor Boys on Tuesday against Port Vale in the absence of a host of senior players in midfield and scored his debut goal in the club’s 3-2 triumph over Darrell Clarke’s side.

Ladapo, who scored a brace in Tuesday’s game, praised the teenager for his performance against Port Vale and hailed the youngster as a brilliant player.

The Ipswich forward claimed that everyone at the club knows what exactly the 18-year-old is capable of and is certain that as long as Humphreys stays calm and confident, the player will be able to keep delivering.

“He is an absolutely fantastic player and I’m sure all of the players and staff know exactly how much ability he has”, Ladapo was quoted as saying by East Anglian Daily Times.

“When he came into the team we were relaxed and knew as long as we kept him confident and calm then he would deliver.

“It was a great strike.

“I was right behind it and I’m so happy for him.”

Humphreys impressed McKenna with his performance with Ipswich Under-18s last season and earned a three-year contract in June.
