Hayden joined Newcastle in the summer of 2016 and has made over 150 appearances for the Tyneside outfit, scoring seven goals while assisting ten.
The 27-year-old defensive midfielder played 14 times for Newcastle the previous season before sustaining a knee injury in December that caused him to miss the remainder of the campaign.
Hayden signed a season-long loan with Norwich City this summer, but another knee injury forced him to miss an initial 14 league fixtures for the Canaries before making his debut against Watford in October.
The defensive midfielder is of the view that the Magpies have a great manager in Howe and revealed that the Newcastle boss has kept in touch with him to see his progress at Norwich.
Hayden rejected the idea of him not liking the new Magpies coaching staff and emphasised that Howe is a brilliant manager with top man-management skills.
“The manager is really, really good there”, Hayden told The Athletic.
“He has called me probably every couple of weeks, just to see how I am and how I’m getting on.
“He talks about the lads back there and how they’re getting on too.
“A lot of people probably think I might not like the staff that came in because I didn’t play as much as I would’ve wished.
“But I have nothing but great things to say about him as a person.
“He’s a top-level coach; probably the best I’ve had in terms of man-management.”
The 27-year-old has made four appearances for Norwich since his return from injury and on Tuesday made his first league start against Burnley.
