Ronaldo damaged his relationship with Erik ten Hag, Manchester United and their fans with an explosive interview.

He attacked Ten Hag and stressed that he has no respect for the Red Devils boss, while complaining about the way he has been treated this season.

The Dutchman is said to have told his bosses at Manchester United that he does not want the veteran forward back in the squad and that he has to be sold in the winter window.

Huth admitted that it is clear now that Ronaldo is desperate to find a way out of Old Trafford but stressed that he could have approached it differently as the interview did nothing for his image.

He believes the Portuguese has only damaged his image in England and feels he is old enough to know that his words won him no friends.

The former defender told Sky Deutschland: “He has only confirmed what we thought until now. Ronaldo wants to get away from Manchester United.

“It certainly could have been done differently, especially with his history at Manchester.

“He has won three Premier League titles and the Champions League.

“I can’t understand it, like many others in England.

“He lost his status as a legend in England a little bit because of the interview. So it didn’t really make sense.

“He didn’t win anything with it, but rather made enemies, but he has to know it himself, he’s old enough.

“But it didn’t go down well.”

Manchester United are said to be seeking advice over whether they can unilaterally terminate the forward’s contract due to the interview.
