Rangers sacked Giovanni van Bronckhorst at the start of the week and are now closing in on appointing Beale as their new manager.

An approach has been made and Queen Park Rangers are reportedly expecting to see their manager move to Glasgow in the coming days.

The 42-year-old is highly regarded at Rangers for the work he did at Ibrox during his time as Steven Gerrard’s first team coach and played a big part in them winning the league in 2021.

Dalziel stressed that his record at Rangers is one of the reasons the fans are open to seeing him come back as their manager this time around.

However, the former Rangers star is worried about the way Beale has changed his tune from wanting to stay at QPR when he knocked back an offer from Wolves to being close to joining Rangers after a run of poor results with the London team.

Dalziel said on Clyde 1’s Superscoreboard when asked if Rangers are banking on Beale’s history at the club: “Yes, a 100 per cent [that’s the hope] and that’s where the Rangers fans are laying their faith with Beale because of his past record with Rangers.

“He did take a lot of credit, Steven Gerrard was the front man but he was the main man, let’s not get carried away from that.

“I am split with the decision.

“There is no doubt that the lad is a terrific coach, we hear good things about him.

“But from the last 15 points he has picked up one and he has changed his tune from knocking back Wolves because he believes in this loyalty with QPR and moving forward and the bigger picture.

“And one point from 15, he is ready to jump ship to Rangers.”

Rangers are expecting to finalise his appointment by next week and give him time to assess the squad ahead of them returning to action next month.
