Bellingham is expected to depart Borussia Dortmund in the summer for a transfer fee of around €120m and several sides are keen.
He has long been a priority for Liverpool, who have been working hard to make sure they can win the race for the England international, while it was recently suggested his family favour Anfield.
The Reds’ hopes of landing Bellingham have suffered a big blow though as, according to Spanish daily AS, the midfielder does not want to return to England yet.
He feels he made the right career decision in leaving England when he joined Dortmund and is not hurrying back.
It is claimed that Bellingham prefers a move to Real Madrid, who are lining up a summer swoop.
The Spanish giants believe that Bellingham’s desire to move to the Bernabeu will put them in a good position to strike an affordable deal with Dortmund.
They see Bellingham as their key signing in the summer and will then look to follow it up by landing Erling Haaland in the summer of 2024.
