The 21-year-old, who arrived in the summer from French side Lille for a fee of £33m, has been an ever-present figure in the Everton midfield so far.

He has been joined in the middle by yet another new arrival, Gueye, and former Arsenal star Iwobi.

Onana rates the two players he is playing alongside in the engine room, dubbing them “very talented”.

“They are two very talented players”, Onana was quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo.

Onana insists that the pair bring their talents to the Everton midfield and have made his job easier as a result.

The midfielder is pleased to have two solid performers backing him up.

“Idrissa with his experience brings something different, Alex with his skills and abilities is a fantastic player too.

“They help me and they make it easier for me to perform and it is nice having those two backing me up.”

Onana had interest from other clubs in the summer, but wanted to join Everton and will be hoping his choice pays off over the coming seasons.
