Last season, Joey Barton’s side earned promotion to League One and had a tough start to life in the new division with only two wins in their first eleven games.
However, Bristol Rovers have managed to turn the results in their favour and sit in ninth place in the league table, only three points behind the last playoff spot.
Gibson is of the view that Bristol Rovers managed to disprove the notion that they were a team that could be easily pushed around and stressed that the opposition are now happy to settle for one point against them.
The centre-back added that the Gas have earned the respect of other teams in their division and believes that the opposition sides are somewhat wary of them.
“I think at the start of the season, teams probably looked at us to come in and maybe get some points off us, whereas I think we have kind of changed that narrative now”, Gibson told Bristol Rovers TV.
“Teams are now looking to come away from our home games with a point as a good result and get a point from us anyway, that is a good result for the teams.
“I would not say that we are a team to be feared as such, but teams are certainly more apprehensive and giving us some respect now.”
Barton’s side are undefeated in their last four games and will take on Wycombe Wanderers in League One today.
