Unai Emery wants Moreno at Villa Park and the Premier League side have been working to reach an agreement with Betis.

One bid has already been rejected by Betis, but Aston Villa have now gone in with a fresh proposal which, according to Spanish outlet betis.besoccer.com, is close to the €18m the La Liga outfit want.

As a result, Moreno will not be involved against Barcelona on Thursday.

Betis are heading to Saudi Arabia later today for Thursday’s Spanish Super Cup against Barcelona and Moreno will not be on the plane.

Aston Villa will hope to wrap up the deal quickly and take Moreno to Villa Park.

The left-sided star rejected a move to Nottingham Forest in the summer, despite the English club agreeing a deal with Betis.

Moreno though looks set to sample the Premier League this season anyway by completing a move to Aston Villa.

And Betis are already hunting a replacement.
