The winger has been struggling with injuries this season and Antonio Conte recently revealed his frustration at not being able to select him.

The Brazilian is in the final six months of his contract and there is no agreement between the club and the player over a new deal.

And a new contract is not in the pipeline as Spurs had until 31st December to communicate to Lucas if they wanted to give him an extension.

That deadline has passed and the winger is now set to leave the north London club on a free transfer in the summer.

He is not keen to leave Tottenham in the winter window and a move in the summer is likely to get him a bigger contract.

Lucas also wants more time to assess his options and believes leaving Spurs at the end of his contract will also let him join a better project.

He was heavily linked with a return to his homeland Brazil last summer and he was believed to be keen.

However, a return to Brazil is not likely to be a priority for Lucas, who will study all potential offers.

Lucas is set to meet his agents in London over the next few weeks to see what could be on offer next summer.
