The race for Moffi, who has scored 12 times in Ligue 1 this season, is now rapidly heating up amid interest from Nice, Southampton and West Ham.

Nice, who have had two bids rejected, are claimed to remain Moffi’s preferred destination.

West Ham have gone in with a bid which is claimed to be close to Lorient’s asking price, but according to French journalist Ignazio Genuardi, it is not yet enough to convince the Ligue 1 outfit.

David Moyes’ side remain in pole position, but Lorient expect the competition for Moffi’s signature to drive the offers higher still.

Lorient are also keen to sell Moffi to a side abroad, rather than Nice, which boosts West Ham and Southampton’s chances.

The hitman played and scored for Lorient in Ligue 1 at the weekend as speculation continues to leave him unfazed.

West Ham have scored just 15 goals in 19 Premier League games this season, a total only better than Wolves.
