Frank Lampard’s side are 19th in the Premier League table and are the club are desperate to add more attacking edge to their squad.
Everton have been looking at several strikers across Europe and they have put in a number of enquiries for a number of players.
Openda, a Belgium international who is on the books at French side Lens, is also a player on Everton’s radar and it has been claimed they already made a move for him.
According to French journalist Ignazio Genuardi, Lens rejected an offer from Everton for the 22-year-old forward earlier this winter.
It is unclear what kind of offer Everton initially tabled and how short it was from the figure that Lens want before they agree to sell him.
Everton have a number of irons in the fire and it remains to be seen whether they go back for Openda later this month.
The Belgian is also being closely monitored by Serie A giants AC Milan who are interested in him.
However, their plan is to try and sign him next summer rather than make a move in the ongoing window.
