Bednarek arrived at Aston Villa last summer for what was supposed to be a one-year long loan, but game-time has been a concern.

The Polish star has played just five times in the Premier League for Aston Villa and has only a cameo of fewer than ten minutes to his name since November.

As such there was speculation that Southampton could recall the centre-back from his loan at Aston Villa and it has proved to be the case.

Bednarek will return from his loan with Aston Villa midway and re-join Southampton, according to Polish outlet Meczyki.

Southampton are bottom of the Premier League table and want to add reinforcements to ensure that they do not succumb to the drop.

With Bednarek not getting much game-time at Aston Villa either, the decision has been taken to cut short his loan spell and add him to the Southampton squad.

Bednarek has more than 150 total appearances for Southampton and the Saints will be hoping his addition helps them out in their relegation battle.
