On Monday, Everton sacked Frank Lampard from the managerial role after he oversaw a terrible run of form that has left the Toffees in the bottom two of the Premier League table.

The Merseyside club are actively looking into candidates to replace Lampard and the former Leeds United boss Bielsa has emerged as a leading candidate for the role.

However, Couzens is of the view that Everton are not aware of how Bielsa likes to work and stressed that the former Leeds manager prefers to have a pre-season to shape the players’ fitness up to his standard.

The Argentine tactician has been linked with several Premier League jobs since his departure from Leeds, but Couzens has stated that he does not see Bielsa taking charge of Everton.

“They just don’t know how the man works”, Couzens wrote on Twitter.

“He has never managed in a country he has already managed in.

“And likes to have a pre-season to get the players fit.

“I really can’t see this happening.”

Everton will face league leaders Arsenal on 4th February and it remains to be seen whether the Toffees will be able to recruit Lampard’s successor before that game.
