Porro has been identified as the right-back to pursue this window by Tottenham as they aim to improve on that side of the field.

However, the negotiations have been drawn out, with Tottenham making several attempts to come to an understanding with Sporting Lisbon.

Sporting Lisbon have stood their ground however and have consistently referred Tottenham to the release clause of the right-back, €45m, if they are to to take him to London.

Now, Spurs are scheduled to have another meeting with Sporting Lisbon and plan to accede to the Portuguese club’s demands.

Tottenham are planning to pay Porro’s release clause as set in his contract, according to Lisbon-based sports daily A Bola.

There was speculation that Manchester City were making a late swoop for the right-back but Tottenham will be hoping that their decision to pay the release clause allows them to bring the player in.

It is claimed that personal terms have already been agreed between Porro and Tottenham and it remains to be seen if Spurs get their player.
