Newcastle are holding talks with Everton in a bid to agree a deal for Gordon and take him to St James’ Park.

He missed training at Everton on Tuesday, which is claimed to have been a planned absence, but was widely expected to report for training today.

Gordon though has not turned up for training.

It remains to be seen why the attacker has not turned up for training at Everton, amid talk of an exit from the club.

Newcastle were keen to sign Gordon last summer, as were Chelsea, but Everton did not want to lose him and dug their heels in.

This month the Toffees are more open to cashing in and could use the money to reinvest in their squad.

It remains to be seen if they agree a fee with Newcastle to sell Gordon and then successfully move to replace him in the transfer market.
