Watt is expected to depart Dundee United before the transfer window closes and Belgian outfit Oostende have been looking to make space to bring him in.

As the Belgian side struggle to do so, two Premiership sides in the shape of St Mirren and Motherwell are looking to keep Watt within Scotland.

St Mirren have money to spend and could offer Watt a good contract to make the switch, but Motherwell are prepared to battle them.

The choice is likely to come down to where Watt feels it is best to continue his career, as he is being allowed to leave Tannadice.

St Mirren currently sit in sixth place in the Scottish Premiership table and want to add Watt’s goals to the mix, having netted just 23 times in 22 league games.

Motherwell meanwhile want to make sure they stay afloat in the division.

The Fir Park outfit are ninth, but only kept out of the bottom two on goal difference, and want to take Watt back to the ground he played at between 2020 and 2022.
