Forest signed the 27-year-old defender from Huddersfield Town last summer following their promotion to the Premier League.

However, he has struggled to be a regular at Nottingham Forest this season and six of his ten Premier League appearances came in the starting eleven.

Anderlecht have been working on a deal to sign the left-back on loan and it was expected to go through on deadline day.

But according to the Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws, Nottinghjam Forest are now looking to block his move to Anderlecht.

Renan Lodi is claimed to have sustained an injury and Forest now do not want to lose Toffolo at the moment.

The player is pushing for the move to Anderlecht and talks are still ongoing between all the parties to find a solution.

But there is now a real chance that Toffolo will stay at Nottingham Forest beyond the end of tonight’s transfer deadline.
