The Seagulls are active on transfer deadline day and look to have seen off efforts from Arsenal and Chelsea to sign Moises Caicedo.

They want to continue to back boss Roberto De Zerbi and the Italian is keen to raid his homeland to sign Lopez from Sassuolo.

The Premier League side made an offer to Sassuolo to sign Lopez on loan with an option to buy, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.

Sassuolo though are unwilling to lose the former Marseille man and have rejected Brighton’s approach.

They have Lopez under contract until the summer of 2025 and are in no mood to part with him.

Lopez has started 12 of 14 games for Sassuolo so far this season, shining brightly for the Italian Serie A side.

The clock is ticking down on the transfer window and it remains to be seen if Brighton will make another attempt to sign him.
