Liverpool signed Cody Gakpo in the winter transfer window but failed to address their problems in the middle of the park yet again.

Their summer signing Arthur Melo has not worked out and while Liverpool are hoping to sign Jude Bellingham in the summer, many feel it was negligent of the club to not sign a midfielder in January.

Their recent form suggests that they need to bring in more than a big-name midfielder next summer for a rebuild but Klopp stressed that they cannot sign three or four players just like that.

He indicated that Liverpool need to know who could be leaving before they can commit to an overhaul of the squad.

Klopp said in a press conference: “It was always clear, our transfers have to always be on point.

“We can’t make four transfers before we know who’s going to leave the club.

“I knew it was going to be tricky.

“That’s one of the reasons why I signed the new contract.”

Liverpool are hoping to attract minority investment in order to fund Klopp’s rebuild in the summer.
