Manchester United beat Barcelona 2-1 at Old Trafford on Thursday night and 4-3 on aggregate to move to the last 16 of the Europa League.

The Catalan giants took the lead at Old Trafford in the first half but second-half strikes from Fred and Antony made sure Manchester United remain alive in four competitions this season.

Busquets bemoaned his side’s luck in Europe this season but admitted in Manchester United they faced a very tough opponent at this stage of the Europa League.

He stressed that given their form and the way they are playing, Erik ten Hag’s side are one of the best teams in Europe at the moment.

The Barcelona midfielder was quoted as saying by Catalan daily Sport: “In the Champions League, we had no luck in the draw and then incredible things happened in this game that prevented us from scoring.

“Here we have faced a team who are in very good shape and are fighting for the Premier League.

“And at the moment, they are one of the best teams in Europe.”

Manchester United will next look to win their first trophy in six years when they take on Newcastle United in the EFL Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.
