Since arriving at Rangers, Cantwell has played in every game and started four of the five Scottish Premiership matches, notching one assist.

Before that however, Cantwell had not played since December and only started nine games in the English second tier for Norwich City this season.

Beale revealed that he is delighted with Cantwell, noting how despite not playing much football recently, he is still quite match-fit.

The Rangers boss also praised Cantwell for his work ethic and determination to win the ball back and feels that the former Norwich man is an interesting option both in support of the striker as well as deeper in the pitch.

“I’ve been delighted with Todd, he hasn’t played a lot of football but he is super fit”, Beale said in a press conference.

“His work ethic and willingness to win the ball back.

“He is an interesting player behind the striker or playing further back to unlock a team.”

The midfielder has impressed Rangers fans with his work at Ibrox so far and his only defeat with the Gers has been the Scottish League Cup final loss to Celtic.

Cantwell will be hoping that he continues to get opportunities at Ibrox and is able to score his first goal of the season.
